Briefly introduce yourself!
Hi there! I’m Stephanie! I’m a mom, a wife and a career-woman. I’m originally from Texas, but now live in Littleton with my little family. I’m an advertising professional, but recently felt called to embark on the journey of entrepreneurship. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoorsy, and I’m always in search of my next big adventure.

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
One son, age 2.5

Where do you live in South Denver exactly?
Littleton/Ken Caryl

What’s your favorite family friendly activity in South Denver?

Anything outdoor-related! Running by the South Platte, stand-up paddleboarding at Chatfield Reservoir, hiking Deer Creek Canyon, enjoying picnics at Civic Green Park.

What’s your favorite kid friendly restaurant in South Denver?
The Farmhouse at Breckenridge Brewery

What’s your favorite date night restaurant in Denver (not just South Denver)?
Uchi (RiNo)

What’s the best mom and/or parenting advice you’ve received?
I love having a feeling of gratitude in my heart. So when my dad would say “Children are your greatest gift, so be grateful for everyday”, it really resonated with me. Just like any other parent, I have tough days and REALLY tough days. But I try to focus on the good and not the bad.

What inspires you?
Pretty places, kind words and smart people. I’m trying to do better about continuing to surround myself with all three.

You started Mountain Club. Tell us more!
For the past ten years I’ve been working in the advertising industry, most recently with a focus in retail. I love what I do, and the creativity behind it. However, I felt like my life could use a little challenge. I wasn’t a business major in college, but I feel like I’m pretty resourceful, and I’ve always found a way to do something or figured it out on my own. So after I decided on the idea for Mountain Cub, I bought a book, “Start Your Own Business”, and took off running. I have retail experience, and I’ve always loved clothing, but the true lessons of entrepreneurship are really something you learn from trial and error. I’ve made some mistakes, and will probably make a million more, but it’s the learning and growing that is so fun!

What inspired you to start Mountain Club?
My son, Bear, is the primary inspiration behind Mountain Cub. After he was born, I found it so fun to dress my little man. However, I couldn’t really find cool, modern clothes that fit our lifestyle and his personality. We love being active, but we also love cool craft breweries and nice restaurants. We spend our time equally between adventuring in the mountains and exploring Denver. That’s where the idea for Mountain Cub started. I wanted to bring awesome, quality kids clothing to Denver and our community.

What do you do for self-care?
Exercise is a must. If it’s a special occasion, or I’m really treating myself, I’ll splurge on a facial or massage. If I’m short on time, an at-home mask and quick bubble bath do the trick.

What is your best mom hack?
Stickers and fruit snacks. On especially rough days, it’s amazing what you can get your kid to do for a sticker or fruit snack.

Is there anything else about you and/or your business you want to highlight?
I love what I’m doing with my business, and I am so grateful for all of those in our community and Denver that support small businesses like mine. I still feel like I’m a tiny fish in a big pond, but Mountain Cub is growing and I’m excited for it’s future. You can currently shop the Mountain Cub website, shop select styles in the Fetch Store in the Dairy Block, or catch me at one of the numerous festivals or pop-ups that I participate in throughout the year. I want all kids to live their best lives in clothes that look and feel great!
